Recap: October Reading Group First Meeting

Last Saturday, October 7, 2017, East Bay DSA held the first meeting of its reading group based on China Mieville's October.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917, a pivotal moment for the socialist movement of the world. Even today, 100 years later, socialists must come to terms with October: what it was, what it wasn't, what it might have been, and what it became.

Throughout the month of October, East Bay DSA is commemorating the centenary of the 1917 Russian Revolution by organizing a reading group around China Mieville's masterful retelling of that world historical event, the "Read October in October" group. More than 20 East Bay DSA members attended this kickoff event in Berkeley, and the discussion was lively and engaging!

The next meeting of the reading group will be on the evening of October 28, followed by a happy hour and celebration at a local watering hole. Location TBD. Check our list of events to find out when our next reading group will meet.
