It's with great excitement that we look forward to Sunday's general meeting, with two very important votes on the agenda! If you haven't yet, please RSVP and volunteer to help!
Housing Campaign Vote
After hearing quick updates on the work of the chapter's committees and campaigns, we'll start with discussion, debate, and voting on whether the chapter will join the campaign to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which prohibits many rentals from being eligible for rent control across the state. Please see the full proposal text.
Next, we'll vote to update our chapter bylaws, which are expiring. Here's a rundown of bylaws documents, which we hope everyone can read before the meeting. Copies of all of these will also be available at the meeting.
- If you have no idea what's going on, start with this quick guide to what we are doing and why!
- Then check out the proposed bylaws revision, written by the Bylaws Committee and endorsed by the Local Council. We also wrote a quick-and-dirty readers' guide to the revision!
- Members have proposed these amendments to the revision text. We will discuss and debate these alongside the revision!
- This process became more complicated than expected and didn't go as smoothly as we'd hoped! We thank everyone for their patience and understanding. Please see this statement from the Local Council for more information.
Accessibility information is available on the Omni Commons website. If you would like an ASL interpreter for the general meeting, we have volunteers available.
