ACTION ALERT: McDonald’s Workers are NOT Disposable!
April 30, 2020
What’s that you hear? Might it be the sound of a powerful, growing movement of McDonald’s workers across the Bay Area taking direct action?!
Come support TWO McDonald’s worker led actions tomorrow, Thursday 4/30:
10:30am: A safe return to work! 🚩Five workers are returning to work, after 2 weeks on strike, demanding a safe and legitimate return to work, without retaliation from management. 6300 E 14th Street, Oakland
12pm: On strike! 🚩One worker is going on strike to demand PPE and quarantine pay after discovering confirmed cases of COVID-19 among her co-workers -- and no response from management. 1100 Fillmore St, San Francisco
Let’s show up and tell McDonalds: WORKERS ARE NOT DISPOSABLE. Bring signs, stay in your car, and be safe! 🍟 🚗
Suggested slogans for signs:
♦️Protect the frontline, not the bottomline!
♦️Protection now, Protección ahora
♦️PPE now, PPE ahora
♦️Workers are not disposable
♦️We are watching, McDonalds
On April 18, five workers walked out on strike at an East Oakland McDonalds. These workers demanded PPE and proper protection at their workplace. Management has since conceded to these demands. So, what’s next? These workers need a guaranteed safe and legitimate return to work. Though workers may successfully go on strike, management can retaliate for direct action.
One worker at a McDonalds in San Francisco will be going on strike tomorrow 4/30. Walking as one, but not alone! There are confirmed cases of COVID-19 among the workers at this SF location and management has not provided sufficient PPE or quarantine pay.
Will you attend? Let us know!
