November General Meeting
November 15, 2020
The 2020 Election has (largely) ended and the political terrain in the US looks both dramatically different and unfortunately familiar. Even though Trump has lost the presidency thanks to the grassroots power of largely organizers of color, a Biden administration shows no signs of progressive change; we’re likely looking at a continuation of the same neoliberal policies that are picking apart the social safety net, increasing segregation, and filling the pockets of billionaire capitalists.
Locally, many of East Bay DSA’s endorsed candidates won their races, growing a beachhead for the multi-racial working class in Bay Area politics. This opens up huge opportunities for the Left and we’ll be hearing from an amazing panel of some of these new class-struggle elected officials: Jovanka Beckles (AC Transit Board), Carroll Fife (Oakland City Council District 3), and Mike Hutchinson (OUSD School Board).
Likewise, DSA has grown by over 12,000 new members since October 1st and is rapidly on track to become the largest socialist organization in US history! Come learn about our recruitment efforts and bring your friends into the tent of organizing for real change from the bottom up!
