🌹Labor and the Working Class

January 9, 2022

Dear Comrades!

Have you been wondering, “Why do I have to work?” and “What can I do about it?” Join the East Bay DSA Labor Committee and its Jobs Program for its 7-part political education series, "Labor and the Working Class," for a deep dive that explores the role that organized labor and the labor movement play in the working class and in the socialist project. While workplace organizer trainings teach the basic technical methods and skills to workers in how to get them and their coworkers moving together, this series intends to serve as a political "basic training" or foundation for socialist workers, providing the political analytical tools and concepts that can help workers determine how and to what ends to apply those technical organizing methods and skills.

This series is intermediate to advanced. We ask that participants commit to the whole series in advance, rather than only specific classes. This will help us develop a comprehensive shared intellectual foundation, maintain consistent and comfortable group learning dynamics, and build stronger rapport among participants. Readings will average 25 pages per session.

Starting Sunday, January 9th at 3:00 pm and meeting every other Sunday for 2 hours, our first session, will ask “Why the Working Class?” Join us for that discussion and much more on racial capitalism, socialist unions, and the history of class struggle in the U.S. Come start the new year off on the right path!
