Socialist Fundamentals 7: Capitalism with Californian Characteristics
Political Education Committee
August 28, 2024
We've studied the escalating crises of capitalism across time and space: how class struggle has manifested in social movements around the world, how social reproduction and gendered oppression have been theorized in different contexts, why American racial ideology continues to stand in the way of working class power. But how has the capitalist political economy shaped the world we inhabit here in the East Bay, and across California?
Join us for part 7 of the ongoing Socialist Fundamentals series to study how California came to be how it is today: a pioneer of mass incarceration, a place of tremendous wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, a state that always has resources available for police and prisons as housing, climate, and other crises mount.
This event will take place at the East Bay DSA office on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:30pm. There will be food!
