DESCRIPTION:
We hope to familiarize DSA members and the public with the a
nti-democratic aspects of the US political system\, and to place the Const
itution at the center of analysis and critique. Robert Dahl’s How De
mocratic is the American Constitution? serves as the group’s founda
tion. Dahl will be supplemented with additional readings and live presenta
tions by teachers\, authors\, and DSA members. No background knowledge is
needed. All are welcome\, even if you missed previous meetings. Readings a
re provided through the links in the event invitation.

This is
Week One of the reading group. We will introduce ourselve
s\, set the goals and tone of the group by reading and reflecting on assor
ted quotes\, and focus on Dahl's introduction to the Constitution and his
motivation for writing the book. This first week is about setting the foun
