Each month\, the Socialism Beats Fascism Committee hosts a Community Meeting to discuss a pressing political issue that impa cts us here in the East Bay. We've heard from teachers organizing to defen d their students from ICE\, federal workers facing crackdowns & fighting t o protect our public services\, a bus driver organizing his co-workers to push back against austerity\, a Palestinian organizer helping to stop weap ons shipments from Oakland to Israel\, volunteers helping workers unionize to fight back against the daily oppressions they face on the job\, and le aders of the successful fight to divest Alameda County from Israeli aparth eid. Each meeting has been filled with rich community discussion as we pro cess our political moment... and take action.
For every campaign we discussed\, we showed up later that month to ORGANIZE! Volunteers from the Community Meeting have given testimony at Board meetings against investme nt in apartheid\, flyered Oakland businesses with signs educating workers on preventing ICE from entering\, joined ICE watch patrols\, and so much m ore.
