Each month\, the Socialism Beats Fascism Commit tee hosts a Community Meeting to discuss a pressing political issue that i mpacts us here in the East Bay. We've heard from teachers organizing to de fend their students from ICE\, federal workers facing crackdowns & fightin g to protect our public services\, a bus driver organizing his co-workers to push back against austerity\, a Palestinian organizer helping to stop w eapons shipments from Oakland to Israel\, volunteers helping workers union ize to fight back against the daily oppressions they face on the job\, and leaders of the successful fight to divest Alameda County from Israeli apa rtheid. Each meeting has been filled with rich community discussion as we process our political moment... and take action.
For every campaign we discussed\, we showed up later that month to ORGANIZE! Volunteers from the Community Meeting have given testimony at Board meetings against inves tment in apartheid\, flyered Oakland businesses with signs educating worke rs on preventing ICE from entering\, joined ICE watch patrols\, and so muc h more.
