East Bay DSA Strike Support for Oakland Marriott Hotel Workers
October 20, 2018
Oakland Marriott workers in UNITE HERE Local 2850 will soon be in their third week on strike! They'll join with more than 8,000 Marriott hotel workers across the country to fight for their right to live and support themselves with dignity and respect. This means better wages, no increased healthcare costs, and better protections against losing their job to subcontracting and automation.
UNITE HERE, the hotel workers' union, is calling for all supporters of the hotel workers to come out this Saturday to rally and walk the picket lines with them in a national day of action, taking place locally at 2 p.m. at the Oakland Marriott in downtown Oakland.
No one should have to struggle working a full-time job, and no one should be deprived of the right to a full-time job! One job should be enough!
The workers welcome all who want to provide support. If you've never been to a picket line before, here's some picket line etiquette to help you.
If you can't make it this Saturday, pickets will go on everyday at the Oakland Marriott from 5 a.m. to midnight. Drop by anytime.
