OEA Solidarity House Party: Emerson
February 17, 2019
Please complete this form if you would like to attend the OEA Solidarity House Party supporting the community of Emerson Elementary School. Closer to the date of the event we'll send you the home address and more details.
OEA Solidarity House Parties are a way for local school communities — parents, teachers, neighbors, and anyone ready to fight for public education — to organize in support of the students and teachers of Oakland. These events will build local networks that are ready to mobilize if and when a teacher strike happens (possibly mid-February). They will provide attendees with information about the school conditions and reasons for the strike, and have people walk away committed to concrete next steps. These parties are crucial to building community support for our teachers and public education in our city.
Teacher strikes around the country have demonstrated the ability of ordinary people, united in solidarity with one another, and conscious of their power to change the world for the better. Teachers are fighting for all of us and a society that guarantees education as a right, but they need our help.
See the map of all OEA solidarity house parties.
House parties will generally be in the same neighborhood as the school. Please RSVP for the address.
