Committee Reports


Finance 

  • About $15k left in bank
  • Should be around 17,000 by end of November, Spoke has not cost as much as anticipated
  • About $4k for dues share which is very positive
  • 124 new members contributing at $16 each for monthly dues

  • 10 resolutions voted on by email

Updates from SC 

  • Nick Lyell gave the GND committee update. Coordinating a Night School with PEC, “Towards a Green New Deal.”
  • Aaron H. gave the Labor Committee update.
  • Hasan A. gave the Racial Solidarity update. Been doing a lot of campaign work for Carroll Fife’s campaign. Meeting tomorrow (monday 10/19)
  • Erica W. gave the PEC update. Working on getting last night school on Facism onto youtube. Working on a Day school for early next year. Preparing for political education intro to socialism for new members.
  • Andrew R. gave the MEC update.Phonebanking tomorrow for 100k pledge drive. Mobilizers meetings are every other Tuesday, including the 20th at 6pm. Organizers Toolbox series, “How to Give a Great Political Speech” will be next sunday, check the calendar for registration link
  • Isaac H. gave the report back for the Social Housing Committee. This wednesday at 7pm SHC will be holding its monthly meeting.


Member Announcements

  • Rex LC: Phone banks every weekend for Carroll Fife
  • Miguel B: Prop 15 campaign phone banks are occurring frequently, chapter passed resolution making this number one priority! Great speakers at these phone banks like Jovanka!
  • Claudette B: No on Prop 22 Campaign. Daily Phonebanks, weekdays 4-8p and on weekends as well.
  • Michael T. gave an update on the DSA 100k pledge. Add links. Phonebank on the 22nd.

Aaron H updated on the labor census, safety protocols. There is a reading group that folks should join!


AHS support update provided by Molly S. . The BOS voted on 2nd day of strike to dissolve the AHS board of trustees. Significant for a lot of reasons, but biggest one is it takes negotiating a deal out of hands of the anti-union board of trustees. 


Kaela gave an update on DAWG. We are preparing our members with specifical tactical and technical skills during direct actions so there will an in house training on 10/30 & 10/31. 


Miguel gave an electoral campaign update. Prop 15 campaign, there are “15 for 15” phonebanks and volunteer opportunities. Hostin one tomorrow. 15,000 numbers were called in one phonebank! Carrol Fife campaign was endorsed by Bernie Sanders, and there are weekend phonebanks. Classroom Justice campaign has endorsed two school board candidates. Hayward Campaign, weekly Saturday lit drops, also endorsed by Bernie! Jovanka Beckles running for AC Transit Board District 1. Every Sunday at 1pm there are lit drops, as well as phonebanks on Wednesday. Richmond City Council events. No on Prop 22 events to volunteer. Socialism on the Ballot Oct 24 for more in depth debrief on campaigns and events going on.
