Electoral Committee

The Electoral Committee organizes East Bay DSA’s electoral campaigns, and coordinates with EBDSA-endorsed elected officials. We cannot vote our way to socialism, but the state is nonetheless a key arena of struggle against capital, and electoral campaigns can be powerful tools to foster working-class militancy and build socialist power and organization. The Electoral Committee is tasked with long term electoral strategy, preparing home-grown socialist candidates to run for office, and running independent chapter campaigns to help them win.

• Endorsement Process Adopted November 2025

ENDORSEMENTS for June 2026 Primary election: We endorsed Claudia Jimenez for Mayor of Richmond, and three ballot measures, one locally, the "Alameda County Living Wage for All", and two statewide, continuation of the millionaire’s tax for education and a one-time tax on billionaire wealth for healthcare.

ENDORSEMENTS for November 2026 General election: We endorsed Nate Adams for Oakland City Council District 2, George Syrop for Hayward City Council District 1, Syrak Micael for Berkeley City Council District 7, and the Right to Housing slate for Berkeley Rent Board (Avery Arbaugh, Derek Rodriguez, Ida Martinac, Nathan Mizell, and Vylma Ortiz).

We also endorsed SIGNATURE GATHERING for two ballot measures, Alameda County Living Wage and Berkeley Public Bank, but endorsement will be considered if and when they qualify for the November 2026 election and depending on their final language.
